Wild or Atlantic/Farmed Salmon….Is there a difference?

Main benefits from wild salmon:

  • Omega 3 fatty acids
  • High Quality Protein
  • Essential Amino Acids
  • Vitamins A, D, B6, B,  E
  • Appreciable amounts of calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus

Nature didn’t intend for salmon to be crammed into pens and fed soy, poultry litter, and hydrolyzed chicken feathers. As a result, farmed salmon is high in cancer causing contaminants such as PCBs, brominated flame retardants, and pesticides such as dioxin and DDT, as well as the high level of antibiotics and pesticides used to treat them. Note, if it says Atlantic, that’s just another name for farmed.  Avoid farmed salmon or other farmed fish.

Wild is the way. Vote with your dollars and let them know that we are taking our health in our own hands and want to be free from all these chemicals and toxins. When you are eating out in restaurants, ask the waiter whether the fish is farmed or wild. As we come together and choose wild fish, prices will come down.
